Mechanical vs. Welded Chain Slings
Chain slings can be fabricated using either mechanical or welded components. Each style offered by Stren-Flex® given the same type and size features the same rated capacities; however, there are some differences between mechanical and welded slings.

- Sling cannot be modified by employee
- Sling is tested and certified after assembly
- Extremely durable and long-lasting when used correctly
- Cons:
- More expensive than mechanical slings
- Take more time to repair

- Less expensive
- Easier and quicker to repair
- Mechanical slings can be easily modified in the field
- Extremely durable and long-lasting when used correctly
- Cons:
- Mechanical components can wear more rapidly than sling
- Easily modified by non-qualified personnel resulting in safety risks
